BEGINNER’S FELTING: with Debra
Three alternating Monday’s, Jan 28, Feb 11, 25 6:30 – 8:00 pm Fee $100 for three sessions
In three sessions, learn how to: design a square or rectangular handbag or tote; select yarns and needles appropriate for felting; knit, felt, block, dry and care for your felted accessory. As a bonus, you’ll also learn knitting in the round, I-cords and I-cord bind-offs, yarn over buttonholes, and some simple exercises to keep your wrists and hands relaxed while you knit. Requirements: Ability to knit, purl, increase, decrease, cast on and bind off.
Fee includes a nifty binder with reference materials for sizing and designing bags. Plan to select your yarn, needles, and notions at the first class.

ENTRELAC SCARF: with Debra
Monday, Jan 21: 6:30 – 8:00 pm Fee $35
Learn entrelac and get started on a lovely scarf. You’ll receive instruction, handouts and free patterns. NOTE: Please stop by in advance to purchase your yarn and needles so that we can make the most of the class time.


FAIR ISLE HAT : with Debra
Monday, Feb 4: 6:30 – 8:00 pm Fee $35
Want to learn Fair Isle without committing to a sweater? It’s easy with a hat, circular needles and bulky yarn. You will learn how to work two colors: one your right and the other in your left hand! When you’re finished you’ll know the basics. Requirements: Intermediate knitters. Must be comfortable working with circular and double-pointed needles. NOTE: Please stop by in advance to purchase your yarn and pick up the homework assignment. You must bring the ribbing for the hat already knit so that we can start with the Fair Isle technique at the beginning of class. (Hat pictured made in class by Jamie)

MY FIRST MOEBIUS: with Debra
Monday, Feb 18: 6:30 – 8:00 pm Fee $35
Learn the moebius cast on and get started on your first (of many) moebius scarf. Stop by in advance to purchase your yarn and needles.
Requirements: For advanced beginner knitters. Must be comfortable knitting in the round.

KNITTING FOR THE FIRST TIME: BEGINNERS with Sunday
6 classes, Saturdays, 10:00 am –noon, Jan 26, Feb 2, 9, 12, 23, Mar 1
-Or- 6 classes, Wednesdays, 10:00 am- noon, Jan 23, 30, Feb 6, 13, 20, 27
Fee $150.00 for six class session
If you have always planned on learning to knit, now is the time. Learn to knit, purl, cast-on, bind-off, decrease, how to fix mistakes, and basic finishing techniques. By the end of the class, you will have learned everything you need to know to start your first sweater! Join us for six, informative, fun classes, and learn how knitting can enhance your life. Please ask for supplies list when signing up. Materials must be purchased in advance. No knitting skills required!

BEYOND SCARVES: YOUR FIRST (OR SECOND) SWEATER with Sunday
6 classes, Sundays, 10:00 am –Noon, Jan 27, Feb 3, 10, 17, 24, Mar 2
Fee $150.00 for six class session

Do you know how to knit, but feel hesitant about following a pattern? In this intermediate class, we will take you beyond squares and rectangles (baby blankets and scarves). Learn how to read a pattern, choose yarns, calculate yardage, increases, and decreases, pick up stitches, start a new skein of yarn, and finish, while knitting a simple pullover of your choice. Come in prior to class to purchase pattern and yarn. Requirements: Must know how to knit and purl.

KNITTED SOCKS with Sunday
3 classes, Sundays, 2-4:00 pm, Jan 27, Feb 10, 24 Fee: $90 for three class session
Please note that this class meets on alternate Sundays.
Socks are great portable projects and are easier to knit than you might think. After wearing hand knit socks, never again will you want to wear “store bought”. You will learn how to cast on in the round, knit in the round, turn a heel using the short row method, and graft a toe. We will also explore tips and tricks for neater sock knitting. Please purchase yarn and needles prior to the class.
Requirements: Much know how to knit, purl, cast on and bind off.

FINISHING with Sunday
Friday, Feb 8, 12 – 2 pm, Fee: $35 or Tuesday, Jan 29, 12 – 2:00 pm, Fee: $35.
Do you love to knit but hate to sew the sweater together? Learn how to seam, pick up stitches, make buttonholes, darn in ends, and much more. Included are tips and tricks to make your sweater a garment you will be proud to wear. Intermediate knitting skills required. Requirements: Finishing fills up fast. Please register early and pick up your homework assignment.

BEGINNERS KNITTING FOR TEENS Ages 11-14 with Sunday
Fridays, 3:30-5pm, Jan 25, Feb 1, 8, 15 Fee $125 for four class session
This is a beginners knitting class specifically for teens. Across the country, knitting has become the hot pastime of high school and college kids. In this class, we will focus on beginner skills: cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, adding in a new skein, fixing mistakes, binding off and finishing skills. Our project will be a pair of fingerless gloves. Please purchase your supplies prior to the first class. A list of items will be provided when you sign up.

Requirements: None

House Rules
Pre-payment/Pre-registration is required.
Payment must be made by check or cash directly to the instructor.
If you need to cancel, notify us as soon as possible.
Your registration fee is refundable if and when your spot is filled.
If a class is cancelled by stix-n-stitches, registration fees will be refunded.
If the weather is bad, call us to confirm. We will reschedule if a class is cancelled due to inclement weather.
Class fees do not include supplies and yarn. Materials must be purchased at stix-n-stitches prior to the start of your class or workshop. Exception is the felting class – see description above.
