Noni patterns are unique. We have more than a few so stop by to take a look at them, and we also have the Interweave Holidays Gifts 2007.
Click here to look at a preview of what's inside this magazine. We are loving the Koolhaas Hat by Jared Flood and the Fireside Stocking by Kate Gilbert. The Holiday Gifts is not sent to those with a subscription to Interweave, so if you want one make sure to stop by before they are all gone.
Also: We just received the Vogue Knitting Holiday edition. A few highlights include: Nicky Epstein's article on re-upholstering a chair, Lily Chin on up-sizing using gussets, and an article on the knitting british invasion with designs from featured english designers.
The weather this weekend has been sunny and warm, but with Rhinebeck in two weeks and the foliage on the trees, Fall is around the corner. Fall is one of our favorite seasons of the year because it contains the initial spark that inspires us to knit a cardigan, a scarf for someone loved, or holiday mittens. With that said, let's introduce some new Fall yarns from Berroco.
Let's talk about Peruvia. This is 100% Highland Peruvian Wool. Each skein contains 174 yards and is 4.25 stitches to the inch. If you are loving the Norah Gaughan's Tilted Duster on the cover of Interweave Knits this yarn matches gauge. Both the yarn and Interweave are available at the shop. If you are looking for a new knitted purse, try the Bramble Bag from the Berroco website. Also from Berroco is Comfort. Comfort is so soft. The yarn is 50% superfine nylon and 50% superfine acrylic.
And this is comfort as well. There are so many color options (and yes-we have more in the back!). The gauge of Comfort is 4.5-5 stitches per inch. The yardage is great at 210 yards each skein. The directions on the website to wash state the following, "Machine wash on gentle cycle in warm water. No bleach. Tumble dry on low heat." Are you thinking what I am thinking? How about an afghan? How about the log cabin blanket from Mason Dixon?
Another yarn on the knitting front, from Tahki, is New Tweed. Look at all the colorway options in this shot. This yarn is 60% Wool, 26% Viscose, 14% Silk. The gauge is 4-4.5 stitches to the inch. This yarn would look so nice with some cabled fingerless gloves like Fetching. Just an idea.
If you remember I was writing about the Wool Bam Boo? Well, here is one example of it knitted up. Rosemary is making this beautiful vest for her husband.
And she is not the only one inspired by the cables. Here is Carol's sweater in Wool Bamboo as well.
Carol is knitting the jacket (pictured below) in the Classic Elite Luxe book. Isn't that cute? This yarn was not purchased long ago, that's how quickly she is knitting this sweater.
Lucy brought in two completed projects. She finnished a sweater and a baby blanket (not pictured). There should be some more posts in the next few days on some of the new yarns and patterns.
New Yarn! We have new yarn. Lamb's Pride, which graces the front of our store with other bulky yarns.
Here's an up close shot of some of the colors. Of course, we have more skeins in the back, so if you need more, just ask.Lamb's Pride is wool with a little mohair, and on recommended size 10 1/2 needles the gauge is 3 stitches to the inch.
So, what can you do with Lamb's Pride, well here's some ideas:
Anthropologie Capelet (free pattern from Peony Knits)
The Buttonhole Bag (free pattern from Mason Dixon)
Kitty Pi Bed (free pattern from Wendy Knits)
Booga Bag (free pattern)
Felted Bowls (from One Skein Book and available at the shop)
Meema's Marsupial Tote (from Stitch n' Bitch and available at the shop)
House Slippers (felted pattern from Knit 2 Together and available at the shop)
Just kidding, this is a before shot. However with some care, attention, and love, the space now contains all things we love: yarn, books, coffee, and sheep. So, here's our new front window.
The stix sign is at the top of the window and behind the 214 portion of the sign you can faintly detect a Noro jacket.
Here's the long shot of the shop. We have three seating areas: a long table in the front, in the middle our chairs and sofa around the coffee table, and in the back we have another table and seating.
And here's our last shot for today, it is our front area which has a nice long table. Our books area plus binders filled with individual patterns, our button selection, and some purse options (but not all of them).
